The Handwoven Bag Behind Every Sea Palm Order

The Handwoven Bag Behind Every Sea Palm Order

Before a single Sea Palm order ever reaches a customer, it is placed inside a bag woven entirely by hand, by my grandparents, in a small workshop in Colombia. That bag is not an afterthought. It is the second thing we make for every customer, without ever charging for it separately.

A Bag Made the Same Way as the Swimwear Inside It

Every Sea Palm piece is handcrafted, so it never made sense to us for the packaging around it to be anything less considered. The bag that carries your order is woven using the same patience and the same hands that make the collection itself, simply applied to a different material.

Liencillo: The Fabric Behind the Craft

The bag is made from liencillo, a raw, undyed Colombian cotton with a long history in the region. It is sturdy enough to be used for years, textured enough to feel entirely handmade, and completely natural, with our logo stamped onto it by hand rather than printed by machine.

Why We Never Wanted Packaging That Gets Thrown Away

So much of what arrives at a customer's door is designed to be opened once and discarded. We wanted the opposite. A bag worth keeping is a bag that keeps the story of the brand alive long after the order itself has arrived, sitting on a shelf or by a doorway rather than in a bin.

What Customers Do With It After

We hear this often, unprompted: the bag becomes a beach bag, a travel pouch, a place to keep sunglasses and a book by the pool. Nobody has ever told us they threw it away. That was always the real measure of whether it was worth making in the first place.
